Journey to Functional Medicine
My interest in natural medicine started at a very young age. My grandmother emigrated to Perth from Holland after WWII and always had her natural remedies on display in her home. I was fascinated by them each time I visited her.
In my teens, I read a book on genetics that started by passion in this rapidly emerging field of science. In 2001, I relocated to Melbourne to study Genetics at the University of Melbourne and after holding several research positions, I am honoured and humbled to have contributed to published research in areas of public health including HIV, diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
I have a deep desire to bring research to clinical practice, and taking additional studies in Naturopathy and Nutritional Medicine has led me to where I am today.
Clinical areas of interest:
- Gut Health – IBS, IBD, infections, parasites, stool changes, microbiome health.
- Mitochondrial health – often a factor in fatigue, memory issues, brain fog, autoimmune diseases and aging.
- Hormone and metabolic health – blood sugar, thyroid, insulin, cortisol, testosterone, heart health.
- Men's health – hormones, recovery, prostate health, sleep
- Genetic testing – MTHFR and many others.
- Detoxification
- Lifestyle and nutrition
- Longevity & Health Optimisation
- General health checks
My mission:
My passion is combining science with natural medicine and understanding the root cause of health challenges, which is the foundation of Functional Medicine.
My mission is to bring warmth, integrity, and intellectual curiosity to every consultation. Through deep listening and thorough assessment, providing clear treatment plans and education, I aim to help individuals build resilient health, optimise performance, and age with strength, clarity, and confidence.
