Dr Caitlin Wiltsher
Medical Doctor & Functional Medicine Practitioner

I am a UK-trained medical doctor and practicing Functional Medicine Practitioner. I initially trained in conventional hospital-based medicine before going on to specialise in Functional Medicine, bringing together my medical background with advanced testing and holistic approaches to uncover the root causes of health concerns.

My areas of special interest include women’s health and hormones, fertility, thyroid conditions, gut health, autoimmunity, neurodivergence, children’s health, burnout, and stress-related illness. I hold AFMCP certification from the Institute for Functional Medicine and a Master’s in Health Communication from the University of Sydney, which enables me to translate complex medical science into practical strategies that my clients can act on with confidence.

I believe that no one should ever feel reduced to a diagnosis. My philosophy is that every patient deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood, with care tailored to their unique story.

My Personal Health Journey

My passion for medicine truly began when I was diagnosed with cancer at 19. I will forever be indebted to my neurosurgeon who saved my life, but the recovery was physically and emotionally exhausting. I experienced gut, hormonal, and sleep issues linked to my neurosurgery and treatment, yet no one ever connected the dots. That experience showed me how fragmented care can feel when each specialist only looks at one part of the picture. Later, becoming a mother to four boys deepened this understanding.

There were challenges during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and also my children’s health, and I knew there had to be a more joined-up approach, a way to see the whole person and put the puzzle pieces together.

During those years, exercise and time in nature became essential to my own healing, reminding me that true health is about more than symptoms or test results. When I discovered Functional Medicine, it tied all of this together, offering the comprehensive, whole-person framework I had been searching for.

My Approach

As a Functional Medicine Practitioner, with my background in hospital medicine, I take a detailed look at all aspects of health, understanding complex clinical presentations and medical language, and asking the important questions, running advanced tests, and listening carefully to each story. Together we look for imbalances that may be nutritional, hormonal, immune, toxic, microbial, or emotional, and build a clear picture of how they connect.

My treatment plans are always personalised, grounded in the latest evidence-based research, but tailored to each person’s results, lifestyle, and goals. Interventions often include nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle strategies, and nervous-system support giving people not just a plan, but the tools to feel empowered in their own health.
