Tess Jurewicz - ND
Functional Medicine Practitioner
My name is Tess Jurewicz and I am a degree qualified Clinical Naturopath and Functional Medicine Practitioner.
I use an evidence-based approach to natural medicine, incorporating functional and conventional pathology tests to assess your health and combine the results with the latest functional medicine research.
It was my own personal experiences and successes with a more holistic style of natural medicine that guided me towards this career, and I continue to live and breathe it through each day work and life.
My aim is to continuously improve my knowledge base to formulate the most effective treatment plan and achieve the best results for you.
My health story
From an early age I experienced recurrent infections and chronic allergies. I was constantly reacting to a variety of foods, environmental exposures, and personal care products. At this time, conventional medicine was unable to effectively build up and modulate my immune system and repair my gut. This led me to research natural alternatives and implement changes that resulted in an improvement in my personal health and well-being including my skin and hormonal health.
My own healing has empowered me to study extensively in this field and assist others with their own unique health journeys.
Journey to Functional Medicine
Having my curiosity sparked as a teenager after seeing a naturopath who introduced me to herbs, specific nutrients, dietary and lifestyle changes, the power of functional medicine opened my eyes to a whole new world as I slowly healed. Prior to this, countless conventional doctors were only able to prescribe antihistamines and antibiotics, attempting to fix my recurring immune dysfunction but never finding the source of it. Learning that I could approach health issues in a more holistic and personalised way was the first step towards a career where I can help others do the same.
From here, I decided to complete a Bachelor of Health Science in Natural Medicine, qualifying me as a Clinical Naturopath. I have continued to develop professionally seeking out mentorship in Functional Medicine and undertaking further study with the Institute Functional Medicine and world renowned functional medicine practitioners. A strong foundation in Medical testing is at the core of my patient’s treatments and the ability to combine scientific treatment protocols with effective natural medicine appealed to me personally.
I am drawn to the holistic and scientific approach of the functional medicine healthcare system as it focuses on treating the root cause of our health issues as well as preventing disease. Practicing functional medicine gives me the opportunity to use my energy and knowledge to educate and guide my clients to implement changes that improve their health, longevity and wellbeing.
